MRRIC
The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee

Issue
The Missouri River drains one-sixth of the United States and encompasses all or part of ten states. The basin is also home to 28 Native American Indian Tribes. With a basin of this size and the diverse interests of its inhabitants, communicating and collaborating on recovery program activities is difficult.
Goal
To work collaboratively with basin stakeholders to establish a committee made up of the full range of basin interests to provide recommendations to the entities that are undertaking recovery program activities.
Charter
By signing the Implementation Guidance for Section 5018 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2007, John Paul Woodley, the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, approved the Charter for MRRIC and established the Committee.

The US Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution has been facilitating the Charter drafting effort. For more information on the Charter drafting effort, please visit their Web site, http://missouririver.ecr.gov.
